2008

2007 | 2006

May 2008

Inspite of the very changeable weather during the month the lakes have produced some excellent returns with 12 fish in the 3lb plus to 8lb range being recorded. The best fish were recorded by Mike Choppin and Jack Frost these weighed just short of 8lb.

The usual range of Buzzers and Nymphs have produced the catches, green is one of the most popular dressings. There is a good flow of clear water running through both lakes.

The monthly average per rod visit is 2.6 and so far for the seasons it is 2.78.

April 2008

The weather during April was somewhat challenging during the month with the wind being in the North for several days at a time.

The fish responded by going into the deep water. They still reacted well to the usual buzzers and PTNs; these produced results if the dressing included Green or Red in the tying. The best fish was taken by Tony Chatten which weighed in at 5lb 4oz. This was closely followed by a 5lb speciman taken by M Dicks. Several other fish in the 3lb plus range were also taken during the month.

The average return per rod visit for the period is 2.69 and for the season it is now 2.88.

At the moment we have a limited number of vacancies for season tickets.

March 2008

The Lakes opened on schedule on March 8th.

The weather was cold and the wind blustery but, in spite of this, 15 Members decided that the Winter was over and it was time for serious fishing. A Rainbow weighing in at 6lb 2oz was taken by D Green early in the day. This fish was joined by 44 others on opening day.

The fish were fed during the Winter and this appears to have paid dividends.as during the month seven fish in the 3lb to 5lb range were taken. Mr A Thorndyke recorded a 6lb 2oz and a 4lb rainbow. The patterns of flies used included PTN, Buzzers and the old favourite Montana.

The first stocking of Blues have been added and have provided excellent sport in both Lakes.

There is a good flow of clear water through the lakes and the average for the month is 3.13 fish per rod visit.

It looks as though we are at the start of an excellent season.

The Society has a few vacancies for all classes of rod at the moment.
