October 2011 The 2011 Season closed on October 29th.During the month the fishes' habits were very unpredictable and responded well to a variety of flies notably dries and small black buzzers; other times they were not responsive to any pattern. The aveverage for the month was 1.96 per rod visit making the final average for the season 2.42 The 2012 Season will open on March 3rd and we do expect to have a few membership vacancies September 2011 The fish have at times been selective in their feeding through the month some days they have favoured large brightly coloured lures on others dry and small pattern Nymphs and Buzzers.There is a good head of fish in both lakes which should produce some good end of season sport in October. The monthly average was a respectable 2.63 raising the average for the season so far to 2.49 per rod visit August 2011 Several good sized fish in tip-top condition have been taken from both lakes; they have been responding well to Dries, Buzzers and PTNs.The fish have been taking flies on the drop and putting up a good fight. There are some good hatches of flies and the fish are feeding well. The monthly average is 2.53 making the average for the season so far 2.47 July 2011 During the month the fish have been showing well on both lakes, with good returns being reported. Several fish in the 5lb plus range have been taken from both lakes.Daddies, PTNs, Buzzers and Dries have all performed well; there is a good flow through the lakes and there have been some good hatches. The monthly average was 2.51 per rod visit and the season's 2.53 June 2011 The hot weather has kept the fish deep in the water during the heat of the day. Most fish are being taken in the early morning and the evening when there has been plenty of fly life and some excellent rises.Rainbows in the 3 to 5lb range have been taken from both lakes. Hoppers, PTNs, Damsels and GHRE are still taking fish with lightly dressed patterns producing the best returns. The average for the month was 2.15 making the average for the season so far 2.60 per rod visit. May 2011 There have been some excellent late evening rises which have produced good returns for those using dry flies.Several fish in the 3lb to 5lb range have been taken from both lakes during the month with Buzzers, PTNs and Gold headed patterns leading the way as the favourite flies. The water is clear and there is a good flow. Monthly average is 2.65 per rod visit. The Season's average now stands at 2.76 per rod visit. April 2011 There have been some excellent returns during the month with several fish from both lakes weighing in at 4lb plus.Anglers have reported excellent day and evening fishing using dry flies; Montanas, PTNs, GRHE and Damsels are producing good sport and returns. The average for the month is 2.76 per rod visit giving an average of 2.82 per rod visit for the season so far. March 2011 The season opened on March 5th the race to shake off the winter blues was won by Tony Ivett, followed by another 30 anglers who had all left with fish by lunchtime.The best fish of the day was a 4lb rainbow taken by Ron King. During the month several fish in the 3lb plus to 7lb were taken from both lakes. Chris Shingles had the best catch of the month landing a 6lb rainbow and a 5lb plus brown. The usual buzzers, GRHE, PTN's and Damsels produced good returns. The average for the month is 2.87 fish/rod visit. |
